Letter from Florida Biskupovic Ledkins to Alice White.

This letter was written to Alice as she and Marco White, Jr were preparing for a trip to Croatia.

Pensacola, Fla
May 7, 1975

Dear Alice,

As time goes on, I find there are many generations in back of me, so I thought I had better put in print who you would be contacting in Split.

Anka Katic, Lovretska 4, 58000 Split, is my first cousin. It is her mother, Ivanka Biskupovic Lulic that passed away in January. Ivanka was my mother's sister, and first cousin to your father-in-law - Marco's father.

Anka Katic has two children that you will most likely see. One girl is named Novenka, and the other girl is named Florida. Florida is not married and is the girl that plays basketball. Novenka is married and has one child.

My Aunt Ivanka left two other daughters in Split besides Anka. One girl is named Zorka and is married with children. The other girl (youngest girl about 40) is married to an American merchant marine. This girl's name is Dobrila, and her husband is Julio Rodriques. Dobrila was here last year while she was on vacation. They spent their time in New Orleans. We went to see them there, and brought them back to Pensacola for just one or two nights. It was no time to get anyone together. They were in a hurry to get back so Dobrila could be in Split for Christmas, and also her mother was sick. Julio was waiting on a ship.

Aunt Ivanka also left one son in Split and another one in South America, who went there after World War II, and hoped to make a way for himself. He is not well and has lost one leg, and maybe the other one by now.

I hope you get to see our relatives, and please give them our love. I am very anxious to hear from you on your return.

I know you will have a wonderful trip. They tell me Greece and Jugoslavia are beautiful. Take in all the sights and try to remember to tell me all about it. Hope you have nice weather. I feel like you will. Don't forget a sweater and light coat.

P.S. Dobrila was married before and has a son by the first husband. This son is about 21 years old. She met her second husband in Europe - Julio is not good looking but a very good man. We liked him very much. Dobrila does not speak English.
